(ANSA) - PERUGIA, 10 OCT - "Peace is not only possible.
But it is a duty for everyone, states, peoples, supranational institutions, economic enterprises, social forces, citizens, to work to build it": this is one of the passages of the message that the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella sent to PerugiAssisi 2021. "Peace can be built from below - he added -, because it requires consistency in daily action, in the language that is used, in concrete solidarity towards those with fewer resources and greater needs, in respect for balance of nature, in the ability to take care of those in difficulty ".
The message from the President of the Republic was read from the stage by Flavio Lotti, soul of PerugiAssisi, before his departure.
"The Perugia-Assisi march - Mattarella wrote to the organizers - is once again a sign of hope. The values that inspire it and the participation that continues to rise are precious resources in our time of change, but also of responsibility. This edition takes place at sixty years after the first march promoted by AldoCapitini, that original, demanding aspiration for peace and non-violence has taken root deep in the conscience and culture of our communities ".
"This year's march - the president of the Republic recalled - is based on the motto 'I care', which Don LorenzoMilani wanted to post at the entrance to the school of Barbiana.
Having one's destiny at heart like that of the other who is next to us, like that of the distant person who, however, we know to be linked to us by an invisible but robust network, is the spark of the culture of peace that can defeat selfishness, indifference, violence, resignation to injustice ".
