"Jack and the Great Christmas Pig Adventure": So, what is the new JK Rowling like?

2021-10-11T19:57:07.469Z

After "The Ickabog" in 2020, the author of the "Harry Potter" saga, whose last volume appeared more than sixteen years ago, returns this Tuesday

Fans are not going to be disappointed.

And parents fed on "Harry Potter" can offer their offspring the new children's novel by JK Rowling with their eyes closed.

Still, let's be honest, reading the title, "Jack and the Great Christmas Pig Adventure", we cringed our teeth a little.

We did well to ignore it, because this tale, which will be released this Tuesday, October 12 all over the world (in French at Gallimard Jeunesse), is brilliant.

Between "Toys Story" and "Alice in Wonderland", it will take the reader on an adventure as crazy as it is magical.

The objects that come to life when you have your back turned, you suspected.

But, when we lost them, where do they go?

Imagination, thrill, emotion, it's the great JK Rowling.

Miracles and Desperate Causes

Jack and "LC" is for life.

Many times patched and machine-washed, "LC" for "the Pig" is no longer fresh, but 8-year-old Jack cannot live without him.

Especially when his parents separate, he has to change schools and his father goes to live abroad.

So when, on Christmas Eve, the daughter of her mother's new lover angrily swings the confidant on all fours out the window on the highway, it's the tragedy.

The little boy bursts into a rage.

Nothing can console him and especially not this brand new Christmas Pig offered to him by the teenager to be forgiven.

The real "LC" is rough and worn.

Not smooth and slippery like this pale copy.

Since we're in a fairy tale, it's Christmas night and the quill is held by the mom from "Harry Potter", of course, something amazing is going to happen.

This night is indeed not like the others.

It is that of miracles and desperate causes.

Now not only do the objects start to speak but above all, they suggest that Jack go to the Land of Lost Things to try to find "LC"!

A strange and disturbing place where reigns the Great Loser ... Willing to do anything to get his stuffed animal back, Jack even agrees to go on an adventure with this Christmas Pig who smells clean, whom he doesn't really like and whom he renamed “CN”.

A crazy adventure and great encounters

It immediately falls, and the reader with it, in a fantastic world populated by strange lost objects.

Like Alice on her way to Wonderland, Jack also has to go through the "shrink" box.

He becomes a small being of 20 cm, as we can discover it in chapter XV “Under the tree”.

From "the Hall of the Lost" to "Disposables-City" through "the Rockery of the implored" or "the island of the beloved", the two young heroes will live a crazy adventure and make beautiful encounters like Sandwy, the sandwich box, Compass, Broken Angel, Happiness or Ambition.

There are even Human Pains in this funny world located far below our feet.
