(ANSA) - LONDON, OCTOBER 11 - A new and strong appeal has been launched by British companies to the conservative government of Boris Johnson to intervene as soon as possible to calm the effects of the energy crisis that is affecting various industrial sectors. Manufacturing companies operating in the fields of paper, ceramics and steel are calling for "immediate action" and in particular the introduction of a cap on skyrocketing gas prices, but at the moment the executive guarantees only the calmiere for the bills of citizens. Talks are underway today and planned for the next few days between government representatives and associations from different sectors to find a possible solution. The risk, advanced by companies, is that various activities will soon be forced to suspend production.
In this sense, the tensions that arose within the executive itself after the Ministry of the Treasury announced that it had initiated detailed talks with the Ministry of Productive Activities on the possibility of providing support to businesses does not help in this sense.
After a back and forth between the senior Whitehall officials, the Prime Minister's spokesman had to intervene to clarify the situation, ensuring that there is full cooperation between the different departments to address the global gas price challenge.
