In the Netherlands, two men have been sentenced to 30 years' imprisonment each for the murder of the lawyer of a key witness against a notorious gang of criminals.
The criminal court in Amsterdam stated that the guilt of the defendants aged 37 and 32 had been proven beyond any doubt.
"They committed the murder together."
The murder of the lawyer Derk Wiersum had deeply shocked the country.
The act is probably closely related to the murder of crime reporter Peter R. de Vries in July.
Wiersum was the defense attorney for the key witness in a major murder trial.
He was shot dead in front of his home in September 2019.
In July, the reporter Peter R. de Vries was shot dead on the street in Amsterdam - he was the confidante of the key witness in the country's largest criminal case against a coca entrance of the »Mocro-Mafia«, the Moroccan-dominated crime.
The crown witness's brother had previously been murdered.
The two now convicted defendants had denied the act.
However, according to the court, the evidence was clear.
The prosecutor assumes that both had acted on behalf and demanded life imprisonment.
It was not possible to determine who the client was.
