Jean-Jacques Goldman fascinates, and continues to sell. Very discreet since his last concerts in 2004, he is regularly elected favorite personalities of the French. Monday, October 11, he celebrates his 70th birthday. On this occasion,
Le Parisien
announces that new covers of its repertoire could be released as early as 2022. Less than ten years after
Generation Goldman
, a tribute album to the five-star cast which had been a great success, two new discs entitled
Héritage Goldman is
expected to be released soon.
The first, scheduled for spring 2022, was recorded with the Paris Gospel Choir. The second should be imbued with a more Celtic color, for a release in September 2022. Some guests should also take part in the disc, such as Marina Kaye or Lilian Renaud. But we will not know more. Solicited by the newspaper, Jean-Jacques Goldman declined with all the politeness we know him.
“Thank you for your kind offer. But, unfortunately, the years don't make me more interesting! Let's spare your readers, ”
the singer replied
.
According to
Le Parisien
the idea of a new tour is also in the back of the minds of the two responsible for these albums, the artistic director of Jean-Jacques Goldman, Michel Boulanger, and his manager Cyril Prieur.
A concert at the Olympia in October 2022 would thus be in the pipes, before a tour of the Zénith for 2023.
Appearances drop by drop
After a last album
Chanson pour les pieds
in 2001, Jean-Jacques Goldman embarked on a long tour across France. A grueling exercise which had convinced him to stop performing in 2004. Retired since, he only participated in the annual concerts of the Enfoirés. In 2016, he announced that he was leaving his place to "a new generation" during charity concerts. He has since moved to London with his family to allow his daughters to learn English and continue their studies. He also spends long stays in Marseille, where his wife Nathalie is from.
In the media, his appearances can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
A short video in August 2019 in particular, to greet viewers of
Quotidien,
the TMC program of which he was the sponsor that year.
A few months later, he published a video in which he paid tribute to healthcare workers, in the first weeks of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Letter-writing relationships
The singer still keeps in touch with his fans, very often responding to letters they send him. A few weeks ago,
Le Progrès
reported the story of a fan from Jura who had obtained confidences on the future of the singer's career. In response to a letter asking him if he was planning to go back on the roads, the singer brushed aside the idea of a new tour. “
I am sad for the sadness that this absence can cause, but I also know what the scene demands of involvement, of energy, of desire, and I am no longer capable of it. (And it seems to me that would be too difficult, emotionally too)
», Affirmed the now septuagenarian.
Nothing on the horizon for the singer then, except a peaceful retirement, but a legacy that continues to be celebrated, and a popularity that seems eternal.
