The second edition of 'Tech is Pink', an online training course focused on Stem disciplines, dedicated exclusively to girls, starts on 25 October.
Promoted by MediaWorld and, for the first time, also by Samsung Electronics Italia, the goal is to introduce the female public to the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, which are becoming increasingly crucial for the future of the new professions.
They range from lessons on coding, gaming, app development and web design, for all girls aged 7 to 18.
A path that starts from a very low age, for a reason: "Made in collaboration with Girls Tech, an initiative of SYX, a non-profit association for the diffusion of new information technologies, Tech is Pink was born with the aim of raising awareness girls on digital issues from an early age, because it is precisely from a very young age that you become passionate about Stem disciplines "explains Samsung.
According to the latest data from Talents Venture, in Italy only about 37% of female students choose a Stem study path and, among graduates in technical-scientific subjects, only 18% are women, for the 'Valored4Stem' report. Tech is Pink therefore translates into a path made up of over 30 online courses in live streaming for a total of about 180 hours of free training, with the aim of developing female technological talents and concretely supporting the presence of women in the science sector and of technology, at the same time favoring the reduction of the 'skills mismatch', that is the gap between the skills required by the labor market and those actually available. The courses, taught by Girls Tech professionals, will cover some of the most current topics:from coding with Scratch and Python to app design, from cybersecurity to graphic design and gaming, all structured and declined according to the different ages of the participants.
