Android 12 turns your smartphone into car keys

The latest update of Google Play Services, the code base with which third-party apps can communicate with the Android operating system, unveils the launch of Digital Car Key. This is a feature already presented by Google and revived at this year's developer event, Google I / O 2021. The new clues lead us to believe that Big G will introduce the feature already on Android 12, whose presentation is set for October 19, together with the launch of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro series of smartphones. This is the possibility of transforming the smartphone into the car key, through a digital copy of this. The process involves registering, within a special app, the pair in possession, for their supported vehicle.Initially, not all smartphones updated to Android 12 will be compatible (we are only talking about Pixel and Samsung), just as not all cars will be able to take advantage of the particular method of locking and unlocking the doors. Google had already explained the operation of Digital Car Key, which will use communication via NFC and UWB to communicate with the vehicle. This presupposes that the car already integrates a similar tool, which is usually present on luxury models, even if the market is rapidly evolving in this direction, transforming the classic concept of 'keyless', opening, closing and ignition with just the 'start' button, in something more technologically advanced. Google itself has begun to collaborate with auto manufacturers to optimize thecommunication interface and create a shared standard, via the Android Ready SE Alliance. Apple offers a similar service, with Car Key for iPhone and Apple Watch, available only for the latest BMWs.
