(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 13 - The EU commission, on the amendments to the Northern Ireland Protocol, puts forward a proposal for "food, plant and animal health" which leads to "an 80% reduction in checks on goods arriving from Great Britain at Northern Irish coasts ".
The proposal also provides for a 50% cut in customs formalities for the same parties.
In return, Great Britain is asked to comply with certain conditions in compliance with border and phytosanitary controls.
"Our proposal is a direct and genuine response, it improves the opportunities of the Northern Irish", underlined the vice-president of the EU commission Maros Sefcovic.
