(ANSA) - MADRID, OCTOBER 13 - At least 656 hectares of land buried by lava and over 1,400 buildings damaged or destroyed: this is the latest update provided by the European system Copernicus on the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma, one of the Canary Islands. These are data processed from a satellite image obtained yesterday morning of the eruption, which began on 19 September.
In the map published by Copernicus, it is noted that on Sunday and Tuesday the most active lava flow, located further north than the main one, has progressed towards areas so far spared: precisely because of this advance yesterday the authorities issued an evacuation order for about 700 800 people, in addition to those concerning the approximately 6,000 already displaced at the beginning of the eruption.
