Led Zeppelin?

Black Sabbath?

ACDC?

These bands are not infrequently named when rock stars are asked about their sources of inspiration.

But not all of them want to commit themselves to a certain genre of music.

Some rock stars prefer to dance to light pop: Dave Grohl, founder of the successful band Foo Fighters and former Nirvana drummer, apparently has a weakness for Swedish pop music.

The 52-year-old loves the Abba song "Dancing Queen": "When I hear it, I transform myself into a dancing queen," Grohl told Zeit-Magazin.

Never a bad Abba song

In his opinion, the cult band of the seventies and eighties, one of the most successful groups in the world with more than 400 million records sold, never wrote a bad song: "Even the new Abba songs are stunning," said the US musician .

He discovered his passion for music as a child while driving his mother in the car, "when we sang along to the songs that were on the radio."

While Abba wants to release a new album after 40 years, Grohl used the pandemic to write his autobiography.

“When I realized that the lockdown was going to be with us for a while, I decided to try the book.

I had just finished a record.

Another one right after would have been boring. "

Together with the singer Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic, Grohl achieved world successes in the 1990s.

The group's most famous album, Nevermind, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.

After Cobain's death, Grohl founded the Foo Fighters, recorded the debut album single-handedly and only then looked for musicians.

To date, the band has released ten albums despite rumors of separation in the meantime.

Grohl, who grew up near Washington, DC, now lives with his family near Los Angeles.
