The fire brigade took a woman out of the building with a dramatic rescue operation in a house fire in Duisburg.
“The woman was standing by the window and flames were already striking her from two sides.
We were able to rescue them at the last minute with the turntable ladder, ”said the fire department chief on Wednesday morning.
According to initial findings, the fire broke out late Tuesday evening in the basement of the old building in a kitchen shop.
Because the four-story building is mostly made of wood, there was a lot of combustible material.
The fire quickly eaten its way from below to the roof structure.
According to the head of operations, this made the extinguishing work of around 100 firefighters more difficult.
The entire house had burned down and was no longer habitable.
Since the scene of the fire is in the densely built-up city center, residents of the neighboring houses were brought to safety as a precaution.
