An 85-year-old broke through the wall of a house in Hamburg with her car.
In the accident, the senior suffered life-threatening injuries, the police said.
According to initial findings, the woman initially collided with the vehicle of a parcel service after she had previously accelerated sharply for "reasons that have not yet been clarified".
Then she drove at high speed over an intersecting street, then over a piece of land and finally through the wall of the semi-detached house.
The car only stopped in the living room.
Accident driver in the hospital
Rescue workers had to free the woman from the wrecked car and bring it to the hospital.
At the time of the accident, the residents were in the house.
The family remained physically unharmed and received pastoral care.
According to the police, fire fighters carried out "initial security measures".
Now a structural engineer has to check whether the building can still be inhabited.
