(ANSA) - VAN HORN, 13 OCT - Captain Kirk flies into space today, even if for a few minutes.

William Shatner, the 90 / Canadian enneactor who played the commander of the Enterpris in the legendary Star Trek series and who will become the oldest person to touch the cosmos, is in fact one of the four "tourists" who will be launched today aboard Blue Origin in the space program of the Amazon patron, Jeff Bezos, now in its second launch.

    The launch, postponed yesterday due to the wind, is scheduled for today 9 (16 Italian) from the launch base in the west of Texas. The Blue Origin capsule will disengage from the New Shepard usable vector rocket and stop for a few minutes in zero gravity beyond the so-called 'Karman Line', located at 100 km altitude, which conventionally marks the border between the Earth's atmosphere and space. The capsule will then land on Earth held back by three large parachutes and a retro-propeller, a short distance from the launch base. This will last 11 minutes.

    The other three passengers are Chris Boshuizen, former NASA technician and co-founder of the Planet Labs association who photographs the earth in high resolution from some satellites every day;

Glende Vries, an entrepreneur in the field of biomedicine software, and the only woman, Audrey Powers, an executive of the same Blue Origin project in Bezos.

(HANDLE).
