Prince William is skeptical of the expeditions into space operated by Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. Instead of new places to live, solutions for climate change should be found.

Prince William has "absolutely no interest" in going into space.

The 39-year-old said in an interview with the BBC.

There are "fundamental questions" about CO2 emissions from flights into space, the Royal continued.

Finding solutions to climate change is more important than looking for habitable planets in space, says Prince William.

On Wednesday, the now 90-year-old Canadian actor William Shatner ("Captain Kirk"), the oldest person to date, took a trip into space aboard a space capsule from Amazon boss Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin.

The actor was then overwhelmed: “It was indescribable.

(…) Everyone in the world has to do it, everyone has to see it. «The former NASA engineer Chris Boshuizen, the entrepreneur Glen de Vries and the deputy head of Blue Origin, Audrey Powers, completed the flight together with Shatner.

William praises father Charles as a pioneer of the environmental movement

"The brightest minds in the world should focus on fixing this planet instead of trying to find the next place to go to live," said the prince in the BBC conversation.

William, who, together with the legendary BBC documentary filmmaker David Attenborough, has awarded a prize for the best ideas on climate and environmental protection, is expected alongside other royals at the UN climate conference in Glasgow COP26 in November.

Queen Elizabeth II, Duchess Kate and William's father Prince Charles and his wife Duchess Camilla have also announced their arrival.

Heir to the throne Charles was repeatedly ridiculed for his advocacy for the environment and the climate.

William, number two in the British line of succession, now praised him as a pioneer of the environmental movement.

His father had "spoken a lot about climate change very early on, before anyone else believed it was an issue," said the Royal.
