In 2021, soybean areas rose to over 350,000 hectares, compared to almost 320,000 hectares last year.

The increase in cultivated fields has mitigated the very low yields that have led production to stop at about 1 million tons of soy, a decrease of 5% compared to 2020.



The prices, on average with other cereals, says Cai, are up by 54%, with the latest price on the Bologna Commodity Exchange standing at around 595 euros / ton, well above the 385 euros / ton recorded last year. year.



To cover the national needs, Italy will be forced to import especially seeds and flour from abroad this year, for a total of at least 3 million tons of product.

According to Consorzi Agrari d'Italia, about 80% of the razor in Italy is destined for the production of oil and flour particularly suitable for animal feed, while the remaining 20% ​​is used for food use (drinks, tofu, etc).
