More than a year has passed since

The Batman's

last trailer

, which aired in August 2020. A highly anticipated new trailer was finally unveiled on Saturday, October 16, during the second edition of the DC FanDome, event 100% en line organized by Warner Bros.

The aesthetic of

The Batman

borrows heavily from the dark universe portrayed in

Joker

, by Todd Phillips, which in 2020 won the Oscar for Best Actor for the role of the Big Bad Clown, Joaquin Phoenix. New blockbuster filmmaker Matt Reeves, known among others for

directing Cloverfield

and

Planet of the Apes: Supremacy

, explains that the episode will focus on the Dark Knight's second year of career. As reported by

The Hollywood Reporter

, Reeves contends that his film's Bruce Wayne will be a

"broken"

and fallible version of the character,

"faced with its share of darkness

.

"

In an effort to make fans' mouths watering, the director posted a screenshot of the trailer on social media on October 14, showing the Batman from behind, towering over Gotham City.

“Hello from Gotham City… I can't wait to show you more at the DC FanDome on Saturday,”

he enthused.

A cursed shoot

The new film in the franchise was originally scheduled for summer 2021. That was before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

Filming had started in January 2020, before being interrupted in March, then finally resuming in September.

New twist of fate: three days after the team members returned to the project, Warner issues a press release warning that "

a member of the Batman production team has tested positive for Covid-19, and placed in isolation in accordance with the protocols in force ”

.

Vanity Fair

magazine

claims that the patient is Robert Pattinson himself. The information is confirmed. The actor confines himself. The filming is again at a standstill. Two weeks later, the

Twilight

vampire

reunites with

his team and Reeves' set. But these multiple delays have forced a review of the post-production schedule. The release is finally set for March 4 in the United States.

In addition to the interpreter of Edward Cullen, the actors Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman), Paul Dano (The Riddler), Colin Farrell (The Penguin) or Andy Serkis (Alfred) will end up ripolining the catalog of actors of the production companies behind

The Batman

.

By completely renewing its palette, Warner Bros.

and DC Films try to make people forget the failures, both commercial and critical, of most of their films in recent years.
