The United Kingdom yesterday recorded over 40 thousand cases of coronavirus for the fourth consecutive day: this is what emerges from the data of the National Statistics Office, reports the Independent, according to which the infections have been constantly increasing since the beginning of October.

In the past 24 hours, infections totaled 43,423, down slightly from last Thursday's 45,066, the highest level since July.

According to estimates by the Bureau of Statistics, the country is approaching the peak marked during the second wave of the pandemic last winter. In fact, the data indicate the growing trend: in the week from four to 10 October, about one in 60 people in England had Covid compared to one in 70 in the previous week.

At the beginning of October, the positive cases were about 30,000 per day.
