His new lungs, "well hooked", took him far.
A lung transplant recipient in 2017, Alexandre Allain finished the 42 km of the Paris marathon on Sunday October 17 in just over five hours.
A difficult race full of "suffering" on the last kilometers, for the young athlete.
But, above all, a victory.
"It's incredible, but that's the goal of this adventure: to show that organ donation allows extraordinary things", testifies Antoine Mugniot, the surgeon who performed the transplant four years previously.
Inspired by Alexandre, he decided to accompany him in this challenge and to run alongside him.

“Doing it with Antoine who saved my life with his team and doing it with this deceased person who donated his lungs to me, it has a special flavor.
During the race, I looked at the sky several times and, of course, she was there with me, ”explains Alexandre with emotion after crossing the finish line.
