Cameron Norrie is the winner of Indian Wells: she won her first Masters 1000, becoming number 15 in the world ranking and first British in the ATP ranking. Nikoloz Basilashvili had the worst in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-1) and Norrie, with the points earned on the Californian hardcourt, overtakes Jannik Sinner in the ATP race ranking valid for access to the Finals in Turin.

The former number 26 in the world thus became the first player outside the top 25 to win at Indian Wells after Ivan Ljubicic in 2010, as well as the first Briton. "It means so much to me, it's my best title. I'm so happy. I can't even describe how I feel right now," said Norrie Hot. On the night before the final, his three pairs of shoes had disappeared from the locker room. "I have looked everywhere.

I don't know what people have against the British for stealing shoes, but I couldn't get them back. Luckily I didn't have the wedding ring attached ", he explained, referring to what happened in recent days to Andy Murray (to whom the shoes, complete with faith, had been returned after an appeal on social media).

In the ATP race ranking for the Finals in Turin, the 26-year-old resident of London has gained four positions (2,795 points) and is now tenth while Sinner (2,595) has lost one, dropping to 11th.

The top eight will compete at the Pala Alpitour from November 14th to 21st: considering Nadal (2,955), who is eighth, out of the game due to the foot problem, the goal is to overtake Hubert Hurkacz (2,955), who is ninth.

The hunt for points for the 20-year-old from Sesto Pusteria resumes, however, already this week, from first seed at the European open in Antwerp (Belgium), ATP 250 tournament. Benefiting from a bye in the first round, in the second he will face the winner between Lorenzo Musetti and Gianluca Mager.
