VIDEO - If this Swedish singer has taken up residence in our country, it is to tell it better. After a superb new album, she is in concert in Paris, at the Café de la Danse on October 21.

As if it wasn't difficult enough to make a name for yourself in the song, some artists choose to complicate their journey!

Eskelina is one of them.

This Swede started her career in her country with some success, and now she is starting from scratch.

She left Sweden for France and settled near Sarlat, in the Dordogne, without speaking a word of our language.

She meets Francis Cabrel at his Astaffort “campus”.

The advice she receives there is decisive.

She finds what she lacked until then to dare to speak of her nostalgia.

In short, Eskelina needed a tune-up.

Today is out his superb and bewitching third album, entitled

Le sentiment est bleu

*.

The record is meticulously worked on with his two faithful acolytes, the author Florent Vintrigner and the guitarist Christophe Bastien. Eskelina has also invited two newcomers, songwriters Nans Vincent and Diego Gernais. This collaboration resulted in songs so thick that the director Sébastien Collinet demanded a more stripped-down and airy version,

"to give more room to my voice,"

the singer recounts in all humility.

“So we started the work from top to bottom,” she

explains. Here are ten timeless tracks, a mix of rock, electro and folk, whose outline was perhaps inspired by the tiny wooden cabin transformed into a studio where they designed and reworked the songs.

Planted in Florent Vintrigner's garden, on the heights of Giverny, it provided an ideal setting for Eskelina's very Nordic modesty and the personal tone of her songs.

While waiting to return to the stage, the artist is working on an almost folkloric record inspired by the poems of the Swedish writer Tomas Tranströmer.

Like a homecoming, even if she admits that she is now neither completely Swedish nor completely French.
