(ANSA) - ROME, 18 OCT - Safer meals in restaurants for those suffering from food allergies or intolerances, in Italy 5 million people. From January 2022 these places will be able to receive the orange sticker 'Here Eat Safe', certification issued by the Italian Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (Siaaic) at the end of a free online training course, dedicated to catering professionals. In 4 hours you will be taught how to prepare food in a safe way for allergy sufferers, how to recognize the signs of an allergic reaction and how to intervene in the event of anaphylactic shock. The initiative, presented at the SIIC Congress in Bari, is part of the 'For Federica' project, launched by the Company in partnership with Eni.

Every year in Italy about 40 people lose their lives due to a food allergy: even a peanut, if you are sensitized or a drop of milk, if you are allergic to cow's milk proteins, could be enough to meet a crisis that can prove fatal. "Eating a meal outside the home - explains Gianenrico Senna, president of Siaaic - can pose a great risk for Italians with food allergies: 500 thousand children and 2 million adults who, if they ingest a 'prohibited' allergen even in small quantities, can encounter to a severe reaction up to anaphylactic shock, which occurs suddenly and can lead to death due to cardiovascular collapse and respiratory crisis.

This is what happened to Federica, the girl who gives her name to the project: how much success she works in the company has touched closely and for this reason the initiative was born. "At the end of the course the participants will take a test and, if they pass them, they will get certification. "The managers of the catering activities will also be trained in the field of food intolerances, which concern another 2.5 million Italians - specifies Mario Di Gioacchino, President ElettoSiaaic - These people, while not encountering reactions that endanger their lives, they develop discomfort following the consumption of the foods they are intolerant to ".
