(ANSA) - BERGAMO, 18 OCT - "On gender equality there are encouraging signs of an improvement in the situation but, in my opinion, more can and must be done".
This was stated by the President of the Senate, Maria Elisabetta Casellati, in her speech this morning at the opening of the academic year of the University of Bergamo.
"In Italy there is still an unbalance between the percentage of women graduates and those of female researchers in top positions. An invisible and unjust barrier which - he added -, due to an antiquated culture, prevents women from obtaining, on the basis of merit, career advancements. (ANSA).
