The final party in Piazza Santi Apostoli in Rome, which was so dear to Romano Prodi's Olive Tree, brings together in a single snapshot everything that celebrates the Democratic Party. First of all, the victory in the capital, which at the beginning was by no means taken for granted and by itself is worth the electoral return. And then the weight that the project of a broad center-left coalition had on the vote. It is true, in Rome the M5s ran alone, but the Nazarene wants to believe that, overall, in this vote the voters have rewarded the prospect of an alliance that will be called to challenge the center-right of Matteo Salvini and Giorgia Meloni. And of which the Democratic Party wants to be the promoter and pivot. Even if the reaction of the M5s is not one that suggests a downhill road. Few comments, almost none. And in that of President Giuseppe Conte there is no "cheers", but a sore point on abstentionism with a lot of emphasis that in Rome, Turin and Trieste the Five Stars will be in opposition. Enrico Letta enjoys the day and takes stock: the Draghi government is good for the Democratic Party. And his post as secretary to the Nazarene is now stronger. It is no coincidence that the electoral truce has held up and, for some weeks now, we have not heard those grumbles that exasperated Nicola Zingaretti to the point of letting him give up. The word "congress" is also circulating much less. After the vote in the municipalities, now we will have to think about another game, that of Colle. And the outcome of this vote could weigh heavily. Enrico Letta does not hide his project: despite the victory, no temptation for early elections, forward with Mario Draghi until 2023. Because in this post-pandemic phase, supporting the government line has helped.

"I have always learned that the most important thing is to listen to the voters. And they are ahead of us, they have merged and merged, those of the center-left and the broad coalition that I wanted to build. With a triumphal victory".

"A sensational and important result everywhere, throughout Italy. We won both when the right made a mistake and when the candidates got it right. I heard a surreal press conference by Salvini who told of a victory for the center-right, I thought they were archive images".

"

Unity means better candidates, a broad coalition and a fundamental enlargement effort

", said the secretary of the Democratic Party, commenting on the outcome of the vote, al Nazareno.

"The real protagonist of this round of ballots is abstention in a dramatic way. An abstention of almost 60% is a fact that should make us reflect and should alarm all political forces. The 5 Star Movement has a duty to give an answer to those who no longer believe in politics as a solution ".

Thus the M5s leader

Giuseppe Conte

comments on the results of the ballots in a post.

"The 5 Star Movement in Rome, Turin and Trieste will be in opposition. We will work constructively but without giving discounts to those who govern the cities because our guiding star will always be the exclusive interest of the citizens".
