Fans of the sitcom "The Wild Seventies" are celebrating: Netflix has ordered a spin-off of the cult series that is set in the 90s.
Two original actors will also be there again.

(in the original: "That '70s Show") ran
from 1998 to 2006 for eight seasons
on the network channel Fox and kickstarted the careers of several top-class actors, including Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. Set in the late 1970s, the sitcom centered on six teenage friends who lived in fictional Point Place, Wisconsin, while navigating high school, friendships, and young love, processing it all by smoking tons of marijuana. Thanks to its long-term availability on Netflix *, the popular comedy series has maintained and built up a continuous fan base - at least until September 2021, since then the series has no longer been available on the streaming platform. Spin-off titled "That '90s Show" is
in the works.
For the time being, ten new episodes have been ordered.

In addition to
announcing the series
on October 8, Netflix announced that the show will play in Wisconsin like its predecessor. The focus of the 1995 spin-off is Leia Forman, daughter of Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Helene Prepon), who is her grandparents Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) and Red Forman (Kurtwood Smith) in Point Place Visited for the summer. There she will make contact with a new generation of teenagers and research "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll".
The
creators of the original series
, Bonnie and Terry Turner, will serve as executive producers on "That '90s Show," while co-creator Mark Brazill will serve as showrunners.

While Netflix has yet to announce the actors and actresses portraying Leia and her friends, the streaming service has confirmed that Rupp and Smith are
returning
to their
roles as Kitty and Red Forman
as well as executive producers on the series will act.
It is still unclear whether Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Topher Grace, Laura Helene Prepon or other actors will resume their roles in the 90s show.
