(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 19 - Fear in Australia for the fate of Cleo Smith, a four-year-old girl, who disappeared Saturday from the campsite where she was staying with her family. The little girl, reported by BBC, had gone to sleep on Friday night in a tent at the Quobba Blowholes camping with her parents but disappeared the next morning. The tent was open and even the little girl's sleeping bag was gone.

The police are looking for her everywhere, even with the help of helicopters. Her mother Ellie Smith, who reported the disappearance, told a press conference that she last saw her at 1.30am, when she got up to drink some water. "Everyone asks us what we need and all we need is for our little girl to come home ..." she said.

The case, which recalls that of little Maddie McCann, the English child who disappeared while on a family vacation in Portugal in 2007, had a national resonance.

The police did not want to reveal any information, assuring that all leads will be followed.

In the meantime, he was tracking and hearing all the people who were at the campsite on Friday night.

Australian media reported that Cleoera's family arrived in the town about 900km north of Perth, on the famous Coral Cost, to spend the weekend.
