 ROME - Accompany producers in the technological and cultural process of digital transition, providing useful services to implement the business of companies.

This is the goal of the agreement announced at Eima International 2021 between Cia-Agricoltori Italiani and Agia, its association of young agricultural entrepreneurs, with Image Line, Ruralset and xFarm;

three players of the Italian agritech who will become strategic partners of the association in the innovation process, essential for educating SMEs in the sector, leading them towards smart farming.

In fact, CIA estimates that 50% of companies are not yet familiar with agritech.

Digitizing is also synonymous with simplification and savings, with proper management of resources starting from water, also renewing the fleet of machines and improving the traceability of the supply chain. The aim is to increase the profitability and economic sustainability, but also the environmental and social sustainability of agriculture, allowing the sector to compete globally.

"Smart farming means collecting data, processing it and making decisions thanks to the information collected - declares CIA director general, Claudia Merlino - in fact, farmers do not produce only food but also data, which are the driver of the new digital paradigm. accurate knowledge of the data in the company is the key, unique and irreplaceable, for the change of pace of the entire rural system ".

The digital transformation process is also the necessary condition to guarantee the traceability and transparency of the agri-food supply chains thanks to the blockchain, which requires a massive dose of data and advanced technologies, as well as a high degree of skills.
