Stiftung Warentest tested 21 condensation dryers that are comparatively environmentally friendly.
Modern dryers have an advantage, especially in winter, as the test result shows.
Munich - In summer, very few people worry about drying clothes.
The sun, wind and warm temperatures quickly remove moisture from the washed clothes.
T-shirts, trousers and the like dry in an environmentally friendly manner and without consuming electricity, but consumers have to help out in winter.
A modern dryer can be worthwhile, as Stiftung Warentest found out.
Because in heated rooms, the hanging laundry steams, lowers the room temperature and thus increases heating costs.
According to the judgment of Stiftung Warentest, modern tumble dryers are therefore more economical in comparison.
The Foundation put 21 condensation dryers under the microscope in a test.
The verdict: good dryers are available from 465 euros.
A comparison of tumble dryers: modern appliances equipped with energy-saving technology
All 21 tumble dryers tested work with a heat pump.
Compared to older tumble dryer models, this saves significantly more electricity by keeping the heat in a refrigerant circuit in the device.
Of the 21 devices tested, the AEG T9DE79685 (median online price: 835 euros) and AEG T9ECOWP (median online price: 880 euros) received the best marks with 1.9 (good).

When drying, the device got a grade of 2.4;
