As winter approaches, the Covid-19 epidemic is stagnating in France: the incidence rate is slowly rising again while the number of hospitalizations and admissions in critical care is no longer decreasing.

However, this situation does not necessarily herald a new epidemic "wave".

After several days of increase, the hospitalization rate is declining.

According to the latest report from Public Health France, 6,465 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the country this Wednesday, against 6,483 Tuesday and 6,601 last Wednesday.

Of these patients, 263 were admitted to hospital in the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, the proportion of patients with severe forms is crumbling a little more every day: with 44 new entries in critical care services, 1,026 people are being taken care of this Wednesday in these units reserved for the most severe cases.

They were 1046 the day before, 1091 seven days ago.

Public Health France has also recorded 21 deaths in hospital in the last 24 hours linked to an infection with SARS-CoV-2.

Since the start of the epidemic, 117,376 people have died in France.
