The composer and lyricist Leslie Bricusse is dead. He died Tuesday morning at the age of 90, his agent confirmed.
The Briton was twice awarded an Oscar: in 1968 for the best song ("Talk to the Animals" from "Doctor Dolittle") and in 1983 for the best music (together with Henry Mancini for "Victor / Victoria").
He also wrote the classic "Feeling Good", which Nina Simone made a world hit.
He was also responsible for the lyrics to the “Bond” songs “Goldfinger” and “You Only Live Twice”.
"Goldfinger" and "Feeling Good" were both created in collaboration with Anthony Newley, with whom he wrote music for decades, including the songs for the film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" from 1972. The film became " Candy Man «, as interpreted by Sammy Davis Jr., made it a number 1 hit.
Newley's ex-wife, actress Joan Collins, led the Bricusse memorial on Tuesday.
One of the songwriting giants has died, Collins wrote on Instagram.
