An employee of Deutsche Bahn was hit by a train in the Bavarian district of Main-Spessart and was fatally injured.
The accident occurred on the railway line between Rieneck and Burgsinn, as the police in Lower Franconia announced.
Accordingly, the 58-year-old was in the track area when he was hit by a regional train.
According to the police, the man suffered such serious injuries as a result of the collision that an emergency doctor could only determine that he was dead.
The criminal police in Würzburg started investigations into the cause of the accident.
