Under the leadership of Bavarian investigators, the police and public prosecutor's office have been taking action in Germany, Italy and Bulgaria since Wednesday morning against a group of perpetrators with ties to the southern Italian mafia organization 'Ndrangheta.
They searched 46 apartments and commercial premises.
The accused are accused of forming a criminal organization and tax evasion in the millions, as the police headquarters of Upper Bavaria North in Ingolstadt reported on Wednesday.
The police did not say how many suspects are being investigated.
The Special Operations Command (SEK) Südbayern is also in action.
According to the police headquarters, the Munich Center of the European Public Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the investigation, and the Augsburg tax investigation team is also involved.
The members of the group therefore partly belong to the 'Ndrangheta.
The Calabrian-based organization is considered one of the largest and most powerful criminal syndicates in Europe.
It is estimated that the 'Ndrangheta has annual sales in the double-digit billions.
