At least 13 people died and three others were injured this morning in Damascus in a terrorist attack carried out with two explosive devices against a Syrian army bus: the state news agency SANA reports.
This is the bloodiest attack in the country in recent years, the agency writes.
"A terrorist attack with two explosive devices targeted a bus that was passing" on the Raiss bridge of the capital, reports SANA, giving the first toll of the victims and injured.
Images released by the news agency show a burning bus and a bomb squad defusing a third explosive device that had been placed in the area.
Damascus had largely been spared from these kinds of attacks in recent years, especially since the army and allied militias had recaptured the last major rebel stronghold near the capital in 2018.
