(ANSA) - LONDON, OCTOBER 21 - Covid infections recorded in the United Kingdom in the last 24 hours have broken through 50,000 (52,009 to be exact), a record since July when they had reached 60,000.
This is certified by today's official data, which instead confirm that the total number of hospital admissions is below the on-call level (slightly increasing from approximately 7,900 to 8,100, but far from the peaks of 39,000 in recent months);
and report a drop in deaths to 115, compared to 179 yesterday, thanks to the barrier effect attributed to the double vaccine administered so far in the country roughly 80% of the population.
