(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 21 - The longest lockdown in the world since the beginning of the Covid pandemic ends in Melbourne, Australia.

   Sky news reports it.

The city has spent 262 days, almost nine months, in confinement since March 2020. From tomorrow, pubs, restaurants and cafes will reopen to fully vaccinated people.

The obligation to wear a mask indoors remains and the capacity is limited.

"In the state of Victoria we have come the longest way, that road ends tonight," said Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Authorities had promised to lift the lockdown once 70% of people had received two doses of the vaccine.
