The agreement will allow the film to join the catalog of Ghibli feature films already present on the platform since early 2020, outside of Japan and the United States. A safe bet for the streaming giant which has already generated 55 million views worldwide (figures put forward by Netflix).

, announced in a press release Aram Yacoubian, in charge of animated films at Netflix.

Where it will therefore not be broadcast, at least in France. Despite a health situation for the time being rather calm, the Covid-19 epidemic continues to shake up, more or less directly, the calendar of global outings. Without citing the coronavirus, Disney again announced, Monday, the postponement of several expected blockbusters, such as the next

Indiana Jones

.

Adapted from a children's book by British novelist Diana Wynne Jones (1934-2011),

Aya and the Witch

tells the story of an orphan girl adopted by a couple of enigmatic wizards.

Freshly welcomed in the United States.

The feature film is the third film by Gorō Miyazaki, the son of historic Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki, behind the studio's most famous works such as

Princess Mononoke

,

Spirited Away

or

My Neighbor Totoro
