(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 21 - The European Parliament is asking for closer relations with Taiwan, guided by the policy of "one China", at the same time launching an alert on the continuing tensions across the strait.
MEPs define Taiwan as a key partner of the EU and a democratic ally in the Indo-Pacific.
The adopted text - with 580 votes in favor, 26 against and 66 abstentions - underlines the urgent need to launch an impact assessment for a bilateral investment agreement.
The EP expresses grave concern at the continuing military belligerence and airspace violations as well as China's disinformation campaigns.
