During the storm near Templin in Brandenburg, a train driver was killed by a falling branch on a railway line.
He was seriously injured in a hospital, where he died on Friday morning, as the police in Frankfurt / Oder announced.
The 50-year-old had stopped his regional train on Thursday afternoon in order to remove branches together with a colleague that had fallen from trees on the tracks and prevented him from continuing.
During this work, the man was hit by a branch and injured so badly that he died soon afterwards.
The railway stopped traffic in some regions on Thursday due to the storm.
In the meantime, traffic is normalizing again, the company said on Friday.
Occasionally, however, there could still be impairments.
Customers should check their connections before starting their journey.
