(ANSA) - LONDON, OCTOBER 22 - It is in a reserved wing of King Edward VII's hospital in London that Queen Elizabeth was briefly visited in the past few hours for unspecified "preliminary (medical) investigations", between Wednesday afternoon and lunchtime yesterday, following the rest period of a few days that had been strictly recommended by the court doctors since the previous 24 hours: complete with a parallel cancellation in extremis of a planned visit to Northern Ireland.
The British media underline this today, after the brief announcement made last night by Buckingham Palace, when the sovereign - 95 years old last April - had in the meantime already returned to Windsor Castle and only after the tabloid Sun had put her hands on a'indiscretion about it.
At the moment, no alarming clues have emerged about his health.
The Guardian notes however how the hospitalization, albeit rapid, represents an exceptional fact for Elizabeth II: well known for its formidable fiber and temperament, but whose age nevertheless represents an inevitable element of attention.
The last episode of this kind dates back to 8 years ago, in 2013, when Her Majesty was also hospitalized for no more than one night - in that case in a private clinic - due to unagastroenteritis, the newspaper recalls.
Highlighting how "infrequent" health problems have so far been for her, including over the years;
and how reluctant Elizabeth II is always shown to give them weight or to be taken to the hospital.
