(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 22 - In the farewell ceremony to Angela Merkel, at the summit of EU leaders, the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, compared the chancellor to a "monument".
And in proposing comparisons, Michel said: "the European Council without Angela is like Rome without the Vatican, or Paris without the Eiffel Tower. Her wisdom will fail especially in complex moments".
EU sources report this.
Michel then highlighted three characteristics of the German lead: "scientific curiosity, intellectual and simplicity".
