Wine: Valoritalia, 2 billion certified bottles in 2020, + 1%

This is what emerges from the Annual Report of the leading Italian company in the certification of Denomination wines which confirms the good seal of the overall bottled product in the year of Covid, up by 1% compared to 2019.



The body certifies 43% of the total of national designations of origin, 57% of domestic production, equal to over 19 million hectoliters. Fulcrum of this system are the main denominations of the north east, starting with Prosecco, Delle Venezie and Conegliano Valdobbiadene.



"These numbers testify to the goodness of the work carried out to cope with an unprecedented crisis", comments the president of Valoritalia, Francesco Liantonio, "despite the objective difficulties of recent months it has never ceased its control and certification activities". In 2020 alone, the positions managed by the body were over 124 thousand, almost 11 thousand inspections, of which 68% in the field and 32% in the cellar; the labels distributed, 229 denominations managed, 5 thousand types of wine exceeded 1 billion, with 729,601 registered and traced product movements. A capillary work, explains the director Giuseppe Liberatore, "which has helped to keep the sector on the waterline and the projections on the trends of 2021, absolutely positive,they only confirm the validity of the path taken. "Starting from June 2020, in correspondence with the gradual reopening of commercial channels, Valoritalia recorded a decisive leap forward in bottled products, which increased by over 13% in just over a year .
