All Saints' Day holidays: our ideas for cultural outings for children

2021-10-23T04:25:00.181Z

Discover the Electricity Fairy in augmented reality at the Museum of Modern Art, become a rock star or conductor at the new Children's Philharmonic or stroll through the enchanting world of Othoniel at the Petit Palais.

It's raining, it's cold.

Paris is full of museums and exceptional places.

We take refuge there, from Saturday 23 October to Sunday 7 November in Paris, to occupy our dear children during the holidays near La Villette, Trocadéro or Concorde.

Sound madness at the Children's Philharmonic

Put yourself in the shoes of a conductor (with a cardboard orchestra), of a DJ on the decks (in an electro club atmosphere with a big screen), take the stage like rock stars (with a piano, drums and two guitars for children), discover world music (on a huge globe), play video games with your voice (pitch-pong) or dance to the rhythm ... All this is possible in one colorful and joyful place, where everything is touched and presented at child's height.

A dream: the Children's Philharmonic made it come true!

This 1000m2 space with around thirty installations, designed by Constance Guisset, opened at the end of September, after 4 years of work. A great success: difficult to make them leave the premises when our ball lights up and means that the allotted time (a little over an hour) has elapsed. But we leave with memories in our mailbox. People in the same group wear a connected bracelet that allows creations to be recorded on most installations. Children already dream of going back there. We can alternate a musical session and another in the friendly city of children in the nearby Cité des Sciences.

Raoul Dufy's Electricity Fairy in augmented reality

The fun little science lesson on electricity was improvised on a rainy, Parisian Sunday morning, where the museum seemed to be (as very often) the best place to occupy four children aged 3 to 10.

When you arrive at the Museum of Modern Art, go up the steps that lead to the Dufy room, on the left.

There, Raoul Dufy's immense, brightly colored work of 600m2,

La Fée Électricité

leaves speechless. After the restoration of the frieze in 2020, the immersive visit, in augmented reality, has been in place since the beginning of October 2021. The children play the game of animating the masterpiece using tablets provided by the museum (free of charge). and self-service). With their parents, they bring the gods of Olympus to life, above the first power station. In the upper part, the painter has disseminated his favorite themes: sailboats, clouds of birds, the 14th of July ball. In the lower part are arranged the portraits of 110 scientists and inventors who contributed to the development of electricity. They come to life after finding them on the frieze thanks to clues. Our favorite activity: the first steam train, coming from Saint-Lazare station, right in front of our eyes. A firework !Small scenes tell of the great moments of science. To learn while having fun.

Without reservation, free, free access from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (nightly Thursday until 10 p.m.).

Workshops in the colorful and poetic universe of Jean-Michel Othoniel at the Petit Palais

Upon arrival, the dreamlike universe of Jean-Michel Othoniel amazes.

The river of a thousand mirrored blue bricks which runs down the grand staircase of the Petit Palais is

“a waterfall whose gaiety sings like in a fairy tale”

according to its creator.

The works are embedded in the building, suspended from trees or placed on the water.

It is an enchantment.

Last weeks for the Napoleon exhibition at the Grande Halle de La Villette

There is still time to go see the Napoleon exhibition at the large Halle de la Villette before it closes on December 19.

From his rise to the decline of the imperial adventure, the exhibition retraces in nine sections this pivotal period, from key moments in the history of France to the intimate and romantic life of the emperor, through more than 150 works collected for the first time on the occasion of the bicentenary of his death.
