Two people in custody in Guadeloupe

In Guadeloupe, two people who participated in a demonstration against the health pass, including a union leader, were taken into police custody for several hours “for rebellion”.

The Interior Ministry counted 40,610 demonstrators last Saturday.

They were more than 81,000 according to the militant collective Le Nombre Jaune, which subsequently publishes its own count.

The attendance in these processions and gatherings had been declining steadily for several weeks.

On September 25, 60,000 people protested against the health pass imposed by the government to counter the Covid-19 epidemic, according to the authorities' report.

The National Assembly gave in the night of Wednesday to Thursday a first green light to the bill "sanitary vigilance", with the controversial possibility of resorting to the sanitary pass until July 31, 2022. The Minister of Health Olivier VĂ©ran has noted Friday a "small surge" of Covid cases, evoking around "5,000 cases per day" currently.

The incidence rate, an indicator that reflects the proportion of infected people in the population, increased this week after eight successive weeks of decline.

The incidence rate in France returns this evening above the alert threshold of 50, for the first time since September 30.

The upward trend in mid-October had been "broken" by the end of reimbursement of tests for some unvaccinated.
