It is estimated that about 5 to 20 percent of the population is diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome - a syndrome that is a general name for a range of gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, bloating, gas and fecal excretion that can manifest differently and at different severity levels.
For example, there are those who suffer mainly from diarrhea, some constipation, and others from both intermittently.
The cause of the syndrome is unknown, and a diagnosis of sensitive bowel will usually be made only after the exclusion of other conditions such as celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, lactose intolerance and more.

This is a three-step elimination diet.
