Hayden Christensen is back in a "galaxy far, far away".
The American actor will reprise his role of Anakin Skywalker in the "Ahsoka" series on Disney +, which will follow Anakin's former apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, played by Rosario Dawson.
Christensen previously played the role of Anakin in "Attack of the Clones" (2002) and "Revenge of the Sith" (2005), the last two installments of the second Star Wars trilogy.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed the news this weekend, and Rosario Dawson appeared to confirm it on Saturday in a now-deleted Instagram post, writing "Skyguy,… They know !!! See you soon, Chipie ”, a reference to the nicknames Anakin and Ahsoka gave each other in the Clone Wars animated series. Ironically, Christensen had already confirmed his return to the “Star Wars” franchise but for the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series, in the role of Darth Vader, only.
It is not yet clear what form the "Ahsoka" series will take, which Disney has said will "be set in the timeline of The Mandalorian," in which Rosario Dawson first appeared in the credits.
This new series should take place logically after the death of Darth Vader in "Return of the Jedi".
Production on this new spin-off is expected to begin early next year.
