Pasta Day, pasta wins during lunch break for 78.8% of workers

Pasta seems to be the perfect dish for the lunch break for 78.8% of Italian workers, because it is quick to prepare and so versatile that it never gets tired.

The preference emerges on the occasion of the World Pasta Day on 25 October and with a survey carried out by InfoJobs, an online job search platform in Italy, of over 1,500 workers registered on the platform.

The research shows that 42.6% choose it every day, while 32.4% see it as an option to be granted every now and then and 17.5% prefer it over the weekend, probably to devote themselves fully to tasting their own. favorite dish.

A percentage of 7.5% highlights the entry in Italian menus of gluten-free pasta and special flours such as legumes or more or less refined wheat.

The market study finds that the world of the lunch break is divided between supporters of packed lunches and those who prefer to be "served and revered" at the restaurant with those who prepare lunch with their own hands who prefer pasta (25, 3%) or in any case a single dish that includes it and that brings all the nutrients (22.6%). This is followed closely by the classic "sandwich" (21.3%) accompanied by a fruit or a snack. Big salad (10.2%) and protein (4.8%) remain a residual choice, like that of those who, rather than prepare something on their own, prefer to skip the meal (10%). Those who opt for bars and restaurants, on the other hand, prefer richer and more complex dishes, difficult to reproduce at home, such as the traditional complete meal "first, second, side dish and coffee" (34.7%),followed by everything that cannot (or does not know) cook at home (32.5%). Preferences for burgers and fries are 17.8%, sushi 12% and ethnic cuisine in general, 3%.



Finally, 66% of the sample, if they hosted a foreign colleague for lunch, would recommend pasta as a first choice and pizza as a second option (25%).
