Social media, 4.5 billion users worldwide

In October, the number of global social media users surpassed the 4.5 billion mark.

Growth has slowed over the past three months but the global total continues to grow at a rate of 1 million new users per day.

Among the different platforms, the growth of TikTok stands out.

These are the data contained in the Digital 2021 October Global Statshot report by DataReportal, published in collaboration with We Are Social and Hootsuite.

According to the analysis in the last year, that of the pandemic, 400 million users have joined the social networks (+ 9.9%).

To get an idea of ​​the phenomenon, just think that the world population at the moment is 7.89 billion - explains the report - and has grown by 80 million people in the last year.

According to current trends, by the first half of 2022 60% of the world population will have a social account.

Among the various platforms, the growth of TikTok stands out, which has recently entered the social media club with more than 1 billion users, taking only five years for this climb.
