A driver lost control of his car during a car race in Kerrville, Texas.
The man raced into a crowd, killing a six-year-old boy and an eight-year-old boy.
Eight other people were injured in the accident.
The injured were transported to various hospitals, including a 46-year-old woman whose condition is critical.
The Kerrville Daily Times reported that among those injured were a three-month-old baby and a four-year-old boy.
According to the newspaper report, there were too few barriers.
A woman told the newspaper that the route had been closed even less last year.
The city had previously advertised the race with the words that it was "action-packed" and "family-friendly".
