The organizers of the Wuhan marathon said the marathon has been postponed to a later date "to prevent the risk of spreading the epidemic".

The event would bring 26,000 participants in various races, including a full marathon and a half marathon, to Wuhan in the city where the coronavirus was first identified in late 2019. The organizing committee said it will reimburse competitors the registration fees.
