Indeed, among the hundreds of Indians who fought against the Ottomans in a number of sectors in 1917-18, there were also some who took part in the Battle of Tabsur which took place in the city of Raanana on September 19, 1918. Last week, Indian Foreign Minister Dr. Subermaniyam Jaishankar arrived ( Jaishankar) to Israel to attend a ceremony in memory of the Indian warriors, in the presence of Raanana Mayor Haim Broida, Indian Ambassador to Israel Sanjiv Kumar, and researcher Eran Tirosh, Chairman of the Israel World War I Heritage Association. The event took place in the area of Khirbet Azzun in Raanana, which in those days was called Tabsur.

The place stood in the center of the fortifications at the time in the Sharon and gave its name, the Battle of Tabsur, to the fierce battle of the Indian soldiers at the place where Raanana was later established.

"

According to Tirosh, the association has in recent years commissioned the establishment of an Indian battle route signage project, as part of the events expected in the coming year to mark the 75th anniversary of India's independence and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Israel.

The six sites that Tirosh proposed to include in the battle route include the "Junction Station", Nabi-Samuel, Tabsur, Birkat a-Pula (Jezreel Valley), Haifa and Mahdad a-Naj (the Jordan River crossing in the Beit She'an Valley).
