Cisco is a partner of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 26) scheduled in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November with the aim of providing the necessary technological support to ensure the work is carried out in a flexible and inclusive manner.

With the Legislate for Webex platform - designed to securely carry out remote conversations - remote participants will be able to interact with their colleagues, vote on motions and have both live simultaneous translation and subtitles.

From the beginning, Italy played a leading role in the organization of COP 26, organizing both the Preparatory Conference (PRE-COP26) and the 'Youth for Climate' event in Milan in collaboration with the British government. 'During the preparatory work in Milan, young people from all over the world made a clear request: to act immediately with choices that preserve their future and that of the planet' commented Gianmatteo Manghi, CEO of Cisco Italy. 'The path that will be defined by the decisions of the international community finds in digital technology an ally with which to develop innovative solutions, which are a means of cohesion and inclusion'

All sessions of the Glasgow event will be managed by 'digital moderators', who thanks to the features offered by Webex will have the task of ensuring the same level of involvement for everyone. Cisco will also provide a state-of-the-art secure internet connection in all locations and the network technologies deployed during the event will eventually be reused, so no equipment is wasted.

"We are proud to help policy makers and their associates around the world join the most important climate negotiations ever," said Fran Katsoudas, Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer, Cisco. 'We believe that designing an inclusive future depends on each of us, no one excluded. Today's actions to protect the planet are central to this goal. We are in a crucial moment for climate policies and for the future of our planet. '

Almost all 3,000 'physical' sessions will also have a digital component thanks to the support of Cisco Gold partner ITGL, to ensure that COP 26 produces its results in a representative and inclusive way. 'Cisco has developed an inclusive platform for attending meetings and events that can encourage the interaction of people present live or virtually,' added Wendy Mars, President of Cisco EMEAR. 'We are very proud of the way our European teams and partners have worked to create a safer and more inclusive hybrid experience at COP26. Our technologies and innovations are an important part of the green and digital transition that will allow us to create a sustainable and inclusive future for all '.

Alok Sharma, COP26 President Designate, said he was delighted to welcome Cisco as a partner in the climate conference.

I look forward to working with Cisco and all of our partners to make the event run successfully and in an inclusive way. '
